Courts across the United States are deciding what rights kids with food allergies and other medically necessary dietary restrictions have to participate safely and equally in settings such as restaurants, birthday venues, after school programs, and summer camps. While the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 promise legal protections to kids with food allergies, this session will focus on how those rights play out in real life litigation. Disability rights lawyer, Mary Vargas, will share recent developments in food allergy law and discuss how to advocate effectively for the right to safe, full, and equal access.

This session is approved for one hour of continuing education credits from the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
